Understanding Business Organisations

Understanding Business OrganisationsTASK 1The regimen has an important fibre to play in providing easy, low-cost access to cultivation. Numerous studies and reports call for a more coordinated access for commercees to information on foodstuffs, industries and regional economies. In this case, more or less SMEs want better information ab protrude the local and regional economy to help position their businesses and raise competitiveness. Therefore, there is an urgent need for these government funded administrations to play the role of considering a more formal mechanism to listen to the needs of businesses, improve access to information and train they provide partial electronic operate to people and small businesses through Government portals.The stimulation of the SMEs by these funded governings potty reduce the level of unemployment and contribute to a more get even distribution of economic powers. The development of the SMEs is important for the social and economic devel opment of the country, since they addition competitiveness and mobilize idle funds to productive aims. The business community (the SMEs) has unique information needs that need to be addressed with a specifically designed information system integrated in the discipline Treasury, Kenya Revenue Authority, Home Affairs State Department and Immigration Office. A multi-faceted approach to information provision is necessary beca procedure of the variation in needs, literacy and business prospects. prepargon needs of both the business managers of the SMEs and information specialists should be identified and recommended as part of the business information system design.TASK 2 social unit Understanding Business OrganizationsTITLE Technology informatory GroupTask 3Organization chart for T.A.GORGANISATION STRUCTUREThe structure adopted is operating(a) organizational structure which leave involve organizing the activities of the advisory group around areas of specialization. This form of communication facilitates for problem solving, task coordination between departments and project teams.How can intranets and groupware help improve communication?IntranetsOrganization information can be warehoused centrally and retrieved at any time due to superior internal communications.sharing of resources and best practice as virtual groups can be deliberated to expedite information sharing and collaborative workingimproved customer service better access to accurate and reliable information by your staff leads to heightened levels of customer serviceforms can be accessed and completed on the computer, then forwarded as appropriate for approval, without ever having to be printed out, and with the benefit of an audit drag inGroupwareIt facilitates users to post ideas, questions or suggestions on given themes of discussion as it allows users to engage with other members of the group thus enhancing busi ness alliances.It permits users to send messages to other members of the organization and immaterial of the organization.It ensures that users can retain online calendars viewed by other colleagues to assist with the arranging of meetings and project planning as users are able to identify when members are available or times when they are consumed with other tasks.Task 7Managing virtual teamsVirtual teams are defined as affiliated individuals using computer-mediated telecommunications to share information electronically (Kirkman, Rosen, Tesluk, Gibson, 2009, p. 54).Challenges posed by virtual teams in managing individual teamsPhysical Observation Limitations managers are physically limited to observe their employees performance and efforts, and how to implement effective methods for button about measuring productivity, make trust, and managing teams given their particular constraints (Kirkman, Rosen, Gibson,Tesluk, McPherson, 2002). This renders the manager unable to provide co nstructive performance feedback and harness the full potential of the team. As a result, monitoring and measuring performance remain problematic and sources of concern (Kurkland Bailey, 1999).Overemphasis on Output Evaluation Evaluation of virtual team performance is a scrap when managers directly focus on outcomes rather than process especially when those results prove difficult to measure and observe.Therefore, Managers cannot accuratelyascertain performance due to reduced capability toobserve and monitor the process.Employee righteousness and Organizational Justice Issues Virtual team members may feel organizational injustice when compared to those who are present in the actual workplace. Professionally, employees fear that being out of sight infers being out of mind fororganizational rewards thus becomes a significant challenge whenevaluating members of virtual teams against those at the physical office (Kurkland Egan, 1999).Recommendation on how T.A.G will address this challe ngesIncreasing Information Flowthe virtual team project manager should institute mutual knowledge among team members through team building activities and grant members access to evocative project documentation, which lists acronyms and other project specifics important for team members to understand (Davis Khazanchi, 2007).The Balanced Scorecard the virtual team manager should create an all-inclusive balanced scorecard based on T.A.Gs priorities when evaluating performance. This may consist of the organizations values in the fields of growth, profitability and customer satisfaction. This enables managers to have a far more transparent understanding of the effectiveness of their virtual team and create more standardized methods of evaluating future virtual team performance.ReferencesBoddy, D. Cannibalism: Causes and Effects

Cannibalism Causes and EffectsCANNIBILISM IS RARE IN NATURAL SYSTEMS, IT IS GENERALLY NOT key FOR UNDERSTANDING POPULATION AND COMMUNITY DYNAMICS. DISCUSS.In ecology, brooknibalism is defined as killing and consuming a conspecific individual(a). It pot also be referred to as intraspecies ravage. The key difference between cannibalism and other feeding acts such as necrophagy is that cannibalism relates only to conspecifics and includes the act of killing the course or feeding on it whilst it is static alive. Cannibalism appears common in nature and has been recorded in over 1500 species. This essay will aim to highlight the fact that cannibalism is an important part of commonwealth and federation dynamics in many indispensable systems.There are different types of cannibalistic demeanours that can occur. Size organised cannibalism is the consumption of a bittier or less advanced individual by a larger or more advanced individual. This is the most common type of intraspecif ic predation and takes place in a large variety of taxa including 36 families of teleost fish (Smith and Reay 1991), crows (Yom-Tov), ground squirrels (Vestal 1991), dragonfly larva (Crowley et al 1987), isopods (Leonardsson 1991), reptiles (Keren-Rotem et al 2006) and salamanders (Rudolf 2006). A nonher form of size of it structured cannibalism is Infanticide cannibalism which is the consumption of the individuals own, or another conspecifics, offspring.Sexual cannibalism is when one member of a mating pair kills and eats the other member. This is restricted mainly to arthropods, insects and amphipods (Polis 1981). Cannibalism can even take place before birth as intrauterine cannibalism, where the largest embryos feed on smaller ones. It has been well studied in carnivorous sharks and teleost fish (Crespi and Semeniuk 2004). Sibling cannibalism can also occur amongst the newborns this has been recorded in over 100 species (Polis 1981) and primarily occurs when the siblings differ in size or strength. legion(predicate) studies obtain been carried out to discover if cannibalisms prevalence in nature relates to an important role in the dynamics of cosmoss and communities. The majority of these studies have suggested that cannibalism whitethorn indeed have a large role in the regulation of many natural systems.When catching tribe dynamics, the components of the density dependent regulation of the population size is a major aspect. Cannibalism is of such importance in some species that it has been recorded as the main population regulating density dependent factor for them in their natural habitat. In young wolf spiders, this was tested using field and laboratory experiments (Wagner and Wise 1996). Field experiments showed that removing all natural enemies of the spiders did not reduce spider mortality as would have been expected if the population was regulated by predation. Also, increasing spiderling densities did not reduce the spiders prey density and only affected growth slightly, suggesting prey metre is not a key regulating factor. However, the effects of emigration could not be accounted for entirely which prompted more controlled experiments. These laboratory experiments showed that cannibalism and mortality rates amongst young spiders change magnitude when prey availability decreased, and higher densities exaggerated this effect (FIG 1.)Although this shows that cannibalism is sufficient to regulate the density of a population of wolf spiders, it does not confirm that in natural systems the enemies of wolf spiders are not the true cause of the mortality. It may only be when the natural enemies are removed that cannibalism takes over regulating the population density.In larval dragonflies it was shown that cannibalism was the main cause of mortality and that the amount of cannibalism was determined by density (Buskirk 1989). The mortality due to cannibalism was determined by comparing normal populations with populations tha t had their labial consonant palps removed so they could not kill one another. It was put together that non-cannibalism groups survived significantly better and this effect was greater at higher densities. The cannibalism groups showed reduced size distributions as only smaller instars were eaten. This meant that it was possible to fit the results to a predator prey model, that incorporated size structure, which indicated that cannibalism can affect size structure and result in a relatively lower number of young larvae.It is not uncommon for population structure to be affected by cannibalism recruitment rate variations and nonreversible age distributions have been accounted for by intraspecific predation in multiple species, such as teleost fish(Smith and Reay 1991), some polychaetes and molluscs(Polis 1981). Nevertheless, it has also being found that cannibalism can reduce fluctuations in recruitment rate by stabilizing population dynamics (Brownell 1985).Cannibalism in triboliu m beetle populations was found to cause cycling in some life stages while stabilizing others (Benoit et al 1998). Separating the different stages of the lifecycle showed that the cycles in the larval and egg stages were due to larval cannibalism whilst cannibalism of eggs and pupa by adults stabilized the population structure and density. When adult cannibalism of pupa was stopped, the rate of population increase approached exponential. Although clearly an important factor in laboratory experiments, the effects of cannibalism in natural tribolium systems may be weakened due to many other factors influenced by density.Cannibalism can clearly have largely influential effects on the dynamics of individual populations, therefore any communities that these populations are involved in will also be affected. In IGP (Intraguild predation) systems, the predator, often omnivorous, and the prey share a common resource. Models not considering cannibalism designed to predict the structure of the se food webs (Holt and Polis 1997) matched well with empiricial data found in studies with microbial systems (Morin 1999) but not others.The four main predictions of the non-cannibalism models wereFor coexistence, prey moldiness be more efficient at exploiting the common resource and predator must significantly gain from eating prey.The prey can survive at a lower amount of share resource but in high enrichment conditions the predator will cause the extinction of the prey by unornamented challenger.A decrease in predator density will increase prey, therefore decreasing the resource.Only in a small area of the shared space is coexistence possible.However, the models which included cannibalism made predictions which differ from these but match better with empirical data and the observed fact that IGP systems are stable (Holyoak and Sachdev 1998) and widespread (Arim and Marquet 2004) in nature. These models, which considered cannibalism (Rudolf 2007), found that if the predator is cannibalistic it can exploit resources more effectively which may enable it to exist at lower shared resource levels. A change in the effect of enrichment will also occur so prey extinction does not happen at high resource densities. Furthermore, if the prey is cannibalistic, a decrease in predators will increase the shared resource density. This is due to less resource consumption by the predator stage and little or no change in resource consumption by the prey due to increased mortality and feeding from cannibalism from the lack of predators.This study showed that cannibalism was found to support the coexistence of the intraguild predator and prey. However, this only represents the findings of the predictions of a model which has not yet undergone a great deal of scrutiny. Nevertheless, it illustrates the necessity to account for cannibalism to enable accurate predictions of fellowship dynamics as cannibalism effectively establishes an additional trophic level and population feed back loops. Consequently, it is incorrect for food web supposition to view cannibalism merely as a contributor to density dependent mortality that has no effect on interacting species (Hart 2002). Incorporating interspecies and intraspecific interactions into food web theory which account for the size structure of the populations will undoubtedly improve understanding of community dynamics.Due to these inter-population feedback loops, nonlinear interactions within predator and prey systems can take place (Rudolf 2008). When the prey has cannibalistic individuals and the predator consumes these individuals, mortality in the prey due to cannibalism is reduced (FIG 2. A). This is a density mediated indirect interaction, just as if the predator consumed non-cannibalistic prey, increasing competition between the cannibals and the predators (FIG 2 B).Cannibalism can affect the behaviour of the smaller individuals of the population in multiple species (Crowley et al 1987, Persson and Eklo v 1995, Keren-Rottem et al 2006, Leonardsson 1991) causing them to change their habitat or their activity. These general predation evading responses by the smaller individuals will reduce cannibalism and have a behaviour mediated indirect interaction by decreasing the interspecific predation rate (FIG 2. C). Higher interspecific predation rates causing a behaviour change, therefore reducing intraspecific predation(FIG 2 D) is also an behaviour mediated indirect interaction. These indirect interactions reduce the predators overall impact on the prey and can cause nonlinear relationships (Rudolf 2008). These nonlinear relationships have the potential to falsify community dynamics significantly in predator prey systems with size structures.It is clear that to assert cannibalism as rare and unimportant in population and community dynamics is false. Cannibalisms regular occurrence in nature makes it undoubtedly a factor which must be considered as important. When cannibalism is consider ed within populations, both theories and empirical tell have illustrated its varying impact on population dynamics. With this sort of influence at the population level, it seems surprising that an inclusion of cannibalism into general community dynamic theory is not common practice. Continued work by Volker Rudolf however, is showing cannibalisms role in predator prey interactions and trophic chains, yet empirical evidence of this is still lacking. Regrettably, until this has been collected, cannibalism may persist as possibly one of the most underappreciated factors that functions in community dynamics. The lack of studies investigating cannibalism in systems in which it appears scarce and unimportant is profound. Presumably, this is because it may seem meaningless to carry out or publish a study which proves cannibalism as non-existent or unimportant in a system that it was already previously assumed to be unaffected by it. For this reason, it is important to be vigilant when est imating the importance of cannibalism on a whole in understanding population and community dynamics. Nevertheless, to allow theories concerning population demography, predator prey interactions, trophic chains and other interactions to be implemented into natural systems, it would certainly be beneficial to consider cannibalisms role.

Risks Involved with The Human Genome Project Essay -- Argumentative Pe

Risks Involved with The Human Genome ProjectThe man in the black example solemnly steps come forward of the car. His wife scrambles to catch up with his swift pace. She offers an encouraging tone or two, but the man doesnt listen. He plunges through the brass, a genetically neutered combination of the common bush and grass species, both eyes set on his house. The next-door neighbors dash over to interrogate the deserted wife. The neighbors appear instantaneously in hot pink, plastic body suits, with tanks of oxygen attached to their backs. (This elaborate outfit, for those who may not know, is a common protection against identity im soulfulnessation. The decoding of the human genome inadvertently supplies criminals with an ideal method to steal another persons identity identity thieves need only a single cell from a person to detect everything about him or her. Body suits, in addition to setting a fashionable trend, safe-guard against this possibility by trapping all cells within the suit itself.) The wife struggles to suppress a deluge of tears as she warmly hugs her plastic encased neighbors. She briefly relates the days events. Her husband lost the judicature case. He was accused of harboring the gene for prostate cancer, and after a simple genetic leaven, the accusation was confirmed. Her husband had twenty-four hours to move into a quarantined house, fit(p) in an abandoned section of the city. He would live there indefinitely with other potential prostate cancer victims. By isolating all the great unwashed predisposed to prostate cancer, officials hope to eliminate prostate cancer from the gene pool. The wife is purely devastated that reality is manifesting itself so harshly in her life. The neighbors attempt to console her, but they are quite reli... ...tter than another. It can be difficult to discern where exactly the comparisons should cease. The Human Genome Project deserves to have a few cautious skeptics. A breakthrough of this magnitude ne eds to be carefully examined before assimilated into our culture. Yet, at the same time, this breakthrough has become the very epitome of engineering feats for mankind. My mixed feelings tally an exemplary quote from The Meaning of It All Thoughts of a Citizen Scientist by Richard Feynman. Trying to understand the way nature works involves a most terrible test of human reasoning ability. It involves subtle trickery, beautiful tight ropes of logic on which one has to walk, in order not to make a mistake in predicting what will happen (15). Work Cited Feynman, Richard P. The Parasite Called Man Essay -- essays research papers

Erza Pound says that, man is the superior animal. Superior or not, we all have the same staple habits. When humans be sc ard they seek shelter, when we are hungry we eat, and when is right, we wish to pass on our genes. So how is it that man is so superior when all our instincts and urges are so primitive? Erza Pound is puzzled by why humans are superior. I think the only reason why humans are superior is because of ignorance. Humans are the only animals that dont come to equilibrium with the environment they live in. If humans had to be compared to a certain character reference of living thing, they would be most like simple parasitic bacteria.The earth, however large it may be, has it limits when it comes to natural resources. Of all animals human are the only ones that take a leak non-biodegradable waste. When humans run out of resources in one area they go on to the next destroying the area in their path and until a new web site is reached with more resources to abuse. This is much like the life history of flesh eating bacteria. About two years ago, I saw a special on 20/20 about the disease. They say that is moves at about an inch per hour and that they dont stop feeding on the legion until the host is dead. The bacteria multiply at a high rate and can migrate to other parts of the body by the blood stream. Try to brass as the host body as the earth, the bacteria as the humans, and the blood stream as the oceans and river now, anyone can see that this is no diffe...

immoral :: essays research papers

Someone that I find to be immoral is my mother. There are many reasons for why I feel this modal value but just a few of them are, she likes to date men that are younger than me, she has never held a full time job in her life, she puts herself forwards her children, she is lazy, and she is very sexually active.As far as my family is concerned she needs to grow up and start taking responsibility for her life and the actions that she takes. My mother bitches because she has no money and cant fall in rent, yet she wont go out and get a full time job to pay her bills. Since she wont work and has no money she live off the system, basically the way it works is the taxes we pay as employed people go to her and she does nothing. The amount of money that she gets from being on welfare has allowed my siblings and I to go without for much of our lives. Now since our fathers are in the picture more and have detainment of us we are no being raised the way we have deserved to be our whole live s. The problem is that as a mother I thought that u were supposed to provide for your children and if anyone goes without clothing or food it is the parent. When it comes to relationships my mother doesnt have the best judgment. The men that my mother has had are ordinarily younger than me and I am only 20, and most of the time they are unemployed just like her. My mom has no standards if it has a pulse she goes afterward it. For example I brought my best friend over to my moms house and the next day she t old me how cute she was and that if he was single she would go after him. My mom hasnt dated someone over the age of 25 since I can remember. She also has a new boyfriend every couple of weeks. A grand problem with her sleeping with so many men is that she isnt setting a very good example for my 12 and 14 year old sisters.In my eyes my mother is the most immoral person that I know.

Flowering Judas Essay -- Analysis, Katherine Anne Porter

Judas Iscariot, the disciple, hanged himself from a tree after betraying Jesus Christ and giving him a kiss. The tree in which Judas hanged himself is known as Judas Tree principally found in Southern Europe and Western Asia. In the short story Flowering Judas written by Katherine Anne Porter the title is related to this phantasmal event of betrayal, murder, and denial. The two main characters in this short story are Braggioni and Laura. Braggoni is a cruel, powerful leader of Marxist revolutionaries in and around Mexico City. Laura a bonnie Ameri stool women, age 22, who took up residence in Mexico. The most known theme in Porters short story Flowering Judas is betrayal. Laura, Braggioni, Braggionis married woman, and Eugenio are all guilty of betrayal. Laura betrayals love in her life. By rejecting all men who intend to reach for her heart. In the end of the story Porter presents to us a related event in a dream that Laura has with Eugenio. Eugenio says to Laura in the dream Then eat these flowers, poor prisoner, and from a Judas tree he stripped the warm bleeding flowers, and held them to her lips (p.1700). Here Porter mentions Judas as to referring to the disciple that betrayed Jesus. By Laura accepting and eating the bleeding leave from Eugenio, ripped from the Judas tree, she is accepting the contribution in his murder. Just as a Christians accept Jesus on Sundays by Holly Communion. Laura has betrayed Eugenio by participating in his murder.
